World War Z… IT’S COMING

Yesterday was Death of a Salesman… today I listened to most of World War Z. And it was 1am, so. BAD TIME for me. World War Z is a fake history book about the zombie apocalypse, read by a slew of actors. I’m pretty scared of zombies :( They’re coming!! This combined with playing Left 4 Dead has left me a terrified wreck. I STILL scream whenever a zombie pops up from the side of the screen. They don’t even care about eating your brains anymore, they just want to claw you to death :( And apparently in World War Z, unless you shoot them in the head they just keep on going. Scary. At one point, I was listening and decided to go to the kitchen… then realized I’d walk by the front door, and didn’t want to alert any POSSIBLE ZOMBIES to my presence, so I cowered in bed and went to sleep :( I am a huge loser :P

In other news, by looking at that wikipedia article, I’ve realized that people actually review audiobooks out there. I should… see what audiobooks are good and listen to those. I really want to listen to Anna Karenina but one version I heard was read by some British lady and that’s as far as I got. For some reason I really only like listening to hot guys narrating ;)

Death of a Salesman

I read Death of a Salesman straight through today. I’ve read The Crucible before, also by Arthur Miller, so I knew it was going to be good. This play was a little depressing… about a guy who’s 60 and realizes that he’s still living paycheck to paycheck… on commission and not selling as well as he used to. His sons are 30 and are lazy and jobless, but he still thinks that if they just get a loan they’re going to strike it rich. I don’t know whether to hate him or pity him. On one hand, he can’t provide for his family and will probably get his possessions taken away… on the other hand, he planned his life poorly and when given two opportunities for better jobs, he turned them down for pride or comfort. He doesn’t understand business at all and expects handouts. But he really doesn’t know any better, so… ? I don’t know, it was good but the characters made me mad :P

Genius commentary, right? I’m sure most people don’t need an in-depth review of the play… I would recommend The Importance of Being Earnest if you’re going to read a play :) I also enjoyed The Shape of Things, which was made into a nice movie with Rachel Weisz. Go get it!

Ohhhh the gym

Yeah so I went to the gym and it hurts :P It’s been a while, so no surprise there. I listened to a few chapters of this book called A Short History of Nearly Everything… one of these days I’m going to finish it. The chapters take like 45 minutes to finish, so 20 minutes on the elliptical doesn’t seem like it’s going to cut it. But I’m going on a flight soonish, so I take these opportunities to catch up on my “reading.” No, actually, I do have a book that I can actually read while I listen to it. I read so much faster than I listen… might as well read…

Anyway, I hope my triceps finally get into gear, and maybe get some endurance on my legs.
